End of the seventies the German coal mining and steel industry was facing a severe structural crisis. Many mines and steel mills had to close business already beginning of the Eighties. Later some of the abandoned coal mines and coking plants were converted into industry museums. The former coal mine Zeche Zollverein, the steel mill Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord or the abandoned coal mine Zeche Ewald are only few examples. Photographers use these special locations for their photo shootings. Those who are interested in history will find many interesting silent witnesses of the industrialized era of 200 years from the industrial revolution end of the 18th centurey over the Gründerzeit end of the 19th century up to the 1980ties.
